    Looks like it was a bit of a struggle to get it apart.

    Thank you for the kind words everyone!

    @ROBBO55 it was a typical 220/228B breakdown. I try to show how I tear down these early brass fount lanterns to keep from damaging the fount. I just noticed I did not show how I remove the valve assembly tho :D maybe next time! ;)

    John I use oven cleaner containing lye and scrub with 0000 steel wool very lightly until the nickel feels smooth, then rinse and dry. Next I use mother's mag polish with a drill buffer on low speed as I'm running low on elbow grease :) Finally I give the nickel a final rub down with a clean micro fiber cloth to clean the remaining compound. Easy as that :thumbup:
