Hi fellas this is my AGM 3016, runs on shellite. It a very bright lantern. It needs a fuel cap seal but all is good
Very nice! I particularly like the burgundy colour. Some early Vapalux models use the same colour. Nice!
@Darryl Durdin If you are interested in converting your 3016 to kerosene it is pretty easy to do. If you use the jet from a Coleman 201 along with the pricker rod and wire it will run very well on kerosene. Granted I have the wrong sized mantle but it will indeed work. There are way too many purist who get upset about this type of conversion. If interested PT me and we can discuss what needs to be done to make this work.
Hi Darryl, I also like the 3016, I've nothing against Colemans of a similar size / candle power but the shape of the 3016 fount is more pleasing to my eye. At the moment, I've a Coleman 21A on my example but I know it will easily handle a #99 (or Peerless equivalent).
@Henry Plews @Norman , Hi fellas I have an issue with the AGM. I dismantled and cleaned everything, I put a Coleman generator (shellite) / Coleman fuel. So as to be compatible. My issue is that I have a slow air leak. I’ve done the dunk test a number of times as it had small leaks . New fuel seal cleaned ever part. Air leak at the fuel pick up at the font. Unscrewed removed the pick up cleaned everything even the brass mesh. Used a Lo loctite thread sealer it had still leaking, removed cleaned and re set with Teflon tape no leaks. The pump works fine, the NRV dose not leak. Yet it lights up it’s makes a nice his it’s going great but 15 minutes or so it’s lost pressure and will go out. Am I missing something. I haven’t given up yet, I’ll be doing the full system check again when I can. Any advice is much appreciated Thanks fellas
@Darryl Durdin I have several AGM 3016 lanterns and there is one that was having the same problem of loosing or leaking air. The preheater side of the lantern wasn't working and this is ware the leak was coming from. I had to block the preheater side. I tried soldering it but the solder melted and the air leak started up again. This time around I used J B Weld which solved the problem and I've had no leak since. Granted you will have to use a preheater cup to warm up the generator but it is working quite well now. I hope this information is helpful. Cheers, Norman
@Darryl Durdin it is possible that the valve doesn't cut entirely using the air from the tank when is max open and it continue comming air/fuel instead of just fuel from the tank? ( i don't have any AGM lamp, I'm just guessing based on my imagination and on the fact that you fixed all the leaks and you don't see any bubbles). Cheers, Francisc
