I lost my Tilley pre-heater years ago. A simple alternative is to use a an old tea cup candle. Empty the wax, then make a hole in the middle to Slide Over the vaporiser tube. Hold it secure with a slice of cork, also with a hole in it. It stays in place, no need to ever remove unless it gets damaged. Cut a strip of thick cloth, about the same length as your longest finger. Dunk in Metho, then drop into tea cup and light. It should burn for around 2 minutes, enough time to heat the upper parts and light of the mantle.
