The German Bundeswehr's Petromax 829B with a petrol carburetor was only available from 1958 to 1960.Until the end of production in West Germany, the Bundeswehr's pressure lanterns did not have numerical Codes on the bottom of the tank. Like all Petromax Rapid made in Germany, these lanterns were not equipped with a spirit cup.The rapid preheater ,called Rapid ,required special attention during maintenance and use of the petrol-powered Bundewehr lanterns in order to ensure reliability and safety.
Hello Reinhard, a beautiful lantern you have presented here! The baffle plate (Prallteller) is in my opinion the wrong one, it belongs a baffle plate with raised title block in the lantern.
What a beautiful lamp! Also, I may always learn details there. "Thank you!" How different I may see the lamps today, as when I was still in the military to deal with them.
@leo The baffle plate you showed is older. But consider this : The patent for the baffle DE1256175 was files on December 14,1960.This means that there were no baffles at the time the 829B petrol lamps (1958-1960) were manufactured. The glass cylinder is also younger than the lamp.
Order dated Septemper 12,1960 When the "lantern ,petrol, kerosene" is put into operation with petrol fuel, the consumption air is quickly enriched with vaporized lead tetraethyl to such an extent that there is a danger to the health of the soldiers. From now on ,all devices delivered under the names "lantern, petrol, kerosene " and "lamp, petrol(Petromax lamp) must only be filled with kerosene.
Reinhard, Thank you for posting this "Anordnung". I had not seen this post of yours until now, yet i posted the same paper, which i also got from Torsten Sherning's site, earlier today on CPL! Fiat Lux. RxR
Better imagined than experienced...a Rapid Preheater with Petrol. Fine lantern. I presume used due to heat stains on the Rapid tube, creased mantle etc?
