    Tilley TL11 as found, though I did give the globe and shade a dust off as they were black!
    Appears to be totally original, though the owner could only trace family ownership back to the mid fifties.

    It’s all muck around the pump, I think it’ll clean up well. One tiny ding on the fount.

    Very nice, @BigStevie! :thumbup:

    I’ve never seen a Tilley shade that colour.

    After considering some paperwork and posts in this thread I think the shade with the top collar dates from mid-1940s (?post WW11), and just before the introduction of the “Pork Pie” tanks. Happy to move the date earlier if there’s more info around.

    Cheers

    Tony

    I have a TL106 purchased with shade near Fitzroy Falls The shade I believe is original to the lamp, the top of shade has a rounded top edge,a 20mm vertical collar and has 6 or so stitches of white glass on the inside forming the repair of a chip on lower edge which has a ground finish.

    Been fettling the TL.

    Unfortunately the original tall burner is past its best, bit of a shame.
    The nrv cup on the control cock was well stuck inside the lamp stem, on removal it was split and in two pieces.
    The control cock sock, or what was left of it, was a mangled ball of decaying mesh.

    Hopefully I’ll get it lit tonight for the money shot!

    I love the colour of that shade! It should look spectacular when lit. What a great find!

    @BigStevie

    This lamp, with its XN control cock, dates from before 1940, so a 1930s lamp. The shade is later (from mid 1940s onwards).

    Does the gallery have the external or internal steel springs?

    Tilley designated these lamps as TL10 if the lamp came with a glass shade and no globe, and TL11 if it came with a globe and no glass shade.

    In Australia, though, if the lamp came with a shade it was usually also fitted with the globe and insect shields because of our kamikaze moths and beetles.

    Cheers

    Tony

    @Tony Press

    Forgive the very late reply, life has been getting in the way…

    The plated gallery has internal springs.

    Thanks, @BigStevie

    The gallery with the internal springs is pre-1946, so consistent with your lamp being 1930s.

    That is an absolute ripper of a lamp. I have a pork pie TL106 but not in this condition. Congrats on a great addition.
