Hi hall Let’s go back a bit. Two years ago, I began restoring several pairs of oil lamps with moderators. This pair, with an Asian and dragon theme, was given to me by a friend. They work by producing a light that I find quite bright; they require the piston to be raised approximately every sixty minutes for reservoirs of around 500 ml, and they work perfectly. They feature a 24 mm Argant burner compatible with Baccarat crystal chimneys measuring 48 mm at the base and 298 mm in length, fitted with period tubular cotton wicks for a 24 mm burner. I use them regularly and really appreciate the atmosphere they create. I use paraffin oil as fuel. To avoid any confusion regarding the names of fuels on the translator’s part, I’m attaching a photo of the oil I use for the Bernard Carcel lamp. It is a white paraffin derived from the distillation of petroleum. The one used for moderator lamps is identical, but has a lower density. I keep it in my garage and can’t be bothered to go out and take a photo of it there Regards
