Found this in the UK, came with some Coleman Made in England 999 Mantles which I never knew existied and information on Coleman England and where they were based. This 249 is from the first year of production. Even came with the factory fitted generator still on it.

What a lucky find. 249s aren't the most common ones around. Looks like a 'never been used' to me.

I have a 45 Canadian 249 in seafoam green. Great little lantern which can do a good job lighting up a campsite.

Thought I’d check the pig hoosie and look what I’ve unearthed - 1946 Canadian seafoam 249 Scout and Canadian 1958 plated 249.

Jean, only you could 'check' in the pig hoosie and find gems like these! Amazing, but we need a few photos.

Someone's put it on wonky after a rebuild but still a beautiful little lantern.

It's been very well used by the amount of carbon I got from inside the generator but it's also been very well looked after. Just needed a light polish up.

@Jean J My 249 is identical although not in as good a condition as yours. Suspect it came from a out lying non electric farm and saw a lot of use over the years.
