1970`s X246B of Swiss Postal Service

This is a Tilley X246 B of the swiss Postal Service which used the lamp in for repairs in cable channels.

 

Nice set-up that - I presume the box was made to Swiss Postal Service specifications, either as part of the contract with Tilley or subsequently in Switzerland. It looks well, will protect the lantern and keep everything together.

The plastic meths bottle makes sense and looks to be a good quality job into the bargain.

I've never seen a Tilley handle with a hook on it before - very much like on some Primus lanterns. For me, the jury is definitely out on hooks like that - I can see the use in hanging up a lantern but they always seem to be either in the way or catching on everything that's anywhere near!

 

Hi Luminator a very nice example with its custom built storage box and with a supply of essential spares IE mantles vapouriser and seals

I have one of these, without the box, I do not know where I found it. It is rather dim. I am waiting for mantles to arrive. It has the black hood and the bent at rightanglelegs spot welded to the top disc, so I think it is the same.

I have same Tilley with box.
And have nice frosted globe 170 by GTC.
normally it's 171 but embossed 170 due to the frosted ??
