Hi, Any advice on how to repair a leak at the bottom of a Mil-spec parts well, without un-soldering and removing, if possible? regards
Clean out all paint, rust and other dirt from the bottom. If the leak hole is large, you'd need a piece of brass over it too. It'd be quite difficult. I've done it before. I melted a lot of solder over the area. Sealed well so far. No epoxies or other similar sealers. Bear in mind that the Milspec is meant to run on highly volatile gasoline or Coleman Fuel. Repairs on a compromised part on the fount and attached parts aren't recommended. Its both risky and dangerous.
Post a Wanted to Buy (WTB) message on the classified section of the Coleman Collector's Forum or one of the many FB lantern groups. 252a founts aren't rare and you can find a replacement fount at a reasonable price.
