    Hello,

Does anyone have a reference list of mantles/makers to the lanterns that they will fit or work well on?

I would really appreciate it if anyone does. It would be nice to have. Example: the Peerless 2C-HG is equavalent to the Coleman #21 Mantles but many times stronger.

    Thanks All!

I'm a novice at all of this, but I tend to just match the rated candlepower of the lantern to the mantle. Over time you find which ratings can be trusted, and which ones that are exaggerated. I am an affectionado of Peerless mantles, but I also have a small cache of Pescador 500cp mantles that have proven superior, although rare.

Perhaps folks could share their experiences in the mantle library?

Some sort of "cross-reference" listing would be handy. I bought some cheapo mantles, and they come in a sachet that shows what CP rating they have. Very handy! As long as one knows the lantern's CP rating all is easy to match a correct mantle to a lantern. But then there are the Coleman, Peerless and similar mantles that go by a number. I would love to know these mantle's CP rating, but so far I have found no way to match a CP rating with a Coleman mantle (only some estimated guessing, but that is not always clear.).

    Best regards,

    Wim

Thank you Pete, firstly what does that 2000 CP mantle go on

I was thinking more along the lines of what Wim had said. You have all these companies with esoteric codes on the mantles & no way of knowing which lanterns they are good for. I do also understand that mantles shrink to fit & so forth but there are mantles out there like the #51 Colemans for bayonet style lanterns then the #20's for mini Coleman 200 series lanterns like the 222,226,229 variety etc.

The 2000 cp mantle must fit something but i have not found it yet maybe petromax donuts come in this size. I found the 800cp size quite useful but shrinkage and the open weave did not do the lamps justice really.
I know the type of thing Wim means but would take a bit of setting up i think
    cheers pete

I'm tempted to say 'lighthouse', but I think they may be a bit on the small side for that.

We've had pictures of larger mantles on here...
