Hello. I have been messing with a couple of these AGM lamps, and this one has a crack in the vapor? tube. Is there a packing inside the small tube, and can this be soldered where I am indicating with the pic? How does the tube affix to the fitting into the manifold? Thanks for any info you can give me. Darien.
These small tubes may well have a packing in them but I have ever taken one apart to find out. Clean out the crack with a sharp point to get a clean groove and clean the outer area and then run silver solder over it. You need to remove the heat as soon as the solder runs because it is easy to over heat a thin tube and melt it. The upper fitter is a gland nut but the lower is not fixed so it just drops out. ::Neil::
Tricky things but then of course when they were made they were not intended to be serviceable. You just bought a new one. ::Neil::
Yeah AGM customer service is not what it was. What we need here is a time machine. Just pop back to the 1920s and go to any hardware store. ::Neil::
