Looking at my recently acquired Anchor Lamp, in addition to the ceramic nozzle at the top, it also has a ceramic attachment at the bottom. A bit confused because most other Anchor Lamps I see on the internet are just single tie. What mantle should I use or would it the simpler to remove the bottom attachment?

hi, i have both Petromax and the Chinese knock off lamps, Anchors included, they work very well with just the single tie mantles, to my way of thinking the attachment for double tie on these lamps is unnecessary and fiddly, Regards, Frank

Petromax also offers double tie option with additional accessory. I think that it's good for applications where lantern moves or shakes a bit, like in fishing boats. Mantle will last longer since lower end of the mantle has a support.

I think that Tilley mantles would work ok on that 350cp Anchor.

Thank you for the replies -much appreciated. It sounds like I have a little "versatility" i.e. when using the lamp by myself I can use a single tie mantle, and the double tie option when I take it to scout camps as scouts do have a tendency to move and shake!

    cheers
