Hi fellas, I have what I believe to be a transition lantern. 2/300 to 3/300.
When I came across the lantern I noticed the collar as 2/300, once I’d cleaned it up it had the 3/300 logo on two sides of the tank.

I dismantled the lantern to give it a good clean. I noticed the Pricker wheel is a mottled black and tan colour not all red or black.

further investigation , the Pricker rod is 2mm shorter than a 3/300 rod, it was just hanging by a few threads usually they screw into the oscillator more, either 2/300 or 3/300.

The screw/bolt that holds the frame to the font is a flat tapered 3/300 on a 2/300 it is a round bolt looking screw.

this tank has the Austramax 3/300 logo on both sides of the tank and usually there is only one logo.

I made new seals and replaced the brass restriction for the generator. A generic after market globe. Fresh fuel and away it went.

I can assume back in the day they used what ever fitted to make the lantern.
    Either way it’s very cool.

    Good to see Darryl.

A few must have escaped the factory back then as I have one exactly the same except mine has the standard red wheel.
