Hello everyone, yesterday a bought this little lamp, I cant find any markings. Any idea of the origin? May be chinese? Thanks, regards
That's an almost-new Santrax (made in China) that's been painted over and artificially distressed to look old. Are you trying to pull our leg ?
A santrax lamp with an raso therm glass ,yeah right, dont think so this must be an old lamp ,maybe some markings under the painted fond
Thank you Loe, I am in the process of removing the paint and cleaning it, and we'll see if anything turns up. The glass might be a replacement.
Leonardo's lamp is this model: The Santrax 150cp in polished brass.Note the smooth collar and the round ventilation holes in the hood- Features found only on the 150 cp size from Santrax. Towards the end of their production run , these 150cp models were sold unbranded, featuring the same type of control knob seen on Leonardo's lamp. These lamps were also available in a nickel- plated Version. @Loe Don't let the old glass mislead you.
Thanks, Reinhard. It is undoubtedly the same lamp. In this case, it is nickel-plated and slightly rusty—which was likely the reason it was painted. It is also missing the correct jet and cleaning needle... the most valuable part is the glass tube.
