Picked this one up, semi-polished and corroded. A seal kit, a lot of cleaning, some polishing and painting done. Fitted with new globe and original top cap. I didn't polish it fully as I will be using it. The paint was 2 light coats of Canbrush DARK GREY Spray Paint Auto. Code C25. No primer. I should use up the paint on the stool really
Hmm.. I like that grey.. canbrush.. is that a brand ?? I must admit I try and use a primer, but im not sure if willis bates or tilley did back then? .. also paint prices have gone up quite a bit .. halfrauds especially.. even their own brands and basic primers and colours.. lots of motor factors are a lot cheaper.. GSF, and others a nice dust coat can help a bit.. and having your own oven (I wish :/ )
Canbrush is the brand. Modern petroleum resistant acrylic paint. About £6.50. I bought it online. They do a primer but say not necessary. I will light it shortly so will have a better idea of durability I found it easy to use and did do dust coat first to avoid runs. Dries in 30mins re-coat within 4 hours. I left it overnight before assembly
Looks nice. I do like that color grey. Do they tell you how long to let it cure before it's fully petroleum resistant? Or do you bake it in an oven to cure it?
No, there is no baking, and the only instructions are to re-coat within 4 hours to avoid flaking. The solvent in the paint is acetone, and the propellant is natural gas. It is CFC and toluene free. Made in Malaysia. I gave it a week before using it and so far it seems good.
