Just recently won this lot online at a local auction house 310, 315 & 305

    IMG_2694.jpeg

Didn’t have time to go and view this lot but the online photo above didn’t show up any real concerns and they were going just to cheap couldn’t resist a cheeky bid

Collected today and a quick once over they all look in fair condition tbh no costly issues of concern screaming out so far
The 315 does have a cracked shade around the bottom rim shame really as it’s got the original stamp on it
but will do for now until a replacement comes up

I’ve been after a 310 model to add to the Bialaddin Collection this was the main interest in having a punt at this lot

Anyway decided to give this one a fettle up this evening and after good clean the hood and vaporiser went in the ultrasonic cleaner for a quick blast
One or two seals changed it fired up nicely with no leaks so far

Have a bit of a question regarding the shade setup on this 310 model lantern as I have yet to see one with the alloy collar and the glass sitting directly on top
not sure if it’s original or an aftermarket setup if anyone has any knowledge feel free to comment
All seems genuine but I’m struggling to find any info

    Burning away nicely

Will update on the 305 & 315 as I get round to fettling them

    Thanks Jeff makes sense now
Will probably leave this in its current configuration and source a replacement glass in the meantime

Will try it in the 320 once I start fetttling either way I need a replacement as the current one in this setup is cracked around the base but usable for now

Hello Stu, some collectors use super glue to mend cracked glasses, which is okay if those glasses are for display only, that's my opinion anyway.
I shall also have to source some glasses.

Decided to give the 305 a strip down this evening
Was quite surprised what good condition it was in compared to the 310
Noticed there was quite a lot of solder right around the bottom rim that definitely looked like a repair of sorts
Wasn’t until I got everything out the ultrasonic cleaner noticed there was a Crows Foot mark with date 1954

    IMG_2717.jpeg

I can only assume these were repaired and serviced by the Army back in the day
Anyway the 305 fired up nicely once back together and a few seals replaced

    Hi bigstu
You will find that those older bialaddin tanks came out of the factory with a rim of solder round the bottom edge,
I assume they were dipped to give a smooth finish prior to painting
    Regards Ian

Looking great, as you know im a big Bialaddin fan, a well put together quality lamp.

I do have 4 NOS unused V805 globes to suit the 310's but they have the Vapalux Logo on not Bialaddin, I've no yet managed to source any NOS Bialaddin globes only one preloved curved bottom globe for my Rothmans

Thanks Mr Cod useful to know
I have another couple of 305’s one is painted the other has a chrome tank this is the first one I’ve had with a Brass Tank
It’s came up quite nicely after a good cleaning off with wire wool
Might give it a once over with some clear coat

I’ve managed to superglue this one together as it separated around the bottom rim
    It’s hardly noticeable tbh

Gave it a good fettle last night running great with post some pic’s later

    BTW it’s a 320 not a 315 , 315 has the same frame as the 310 with 3 securing screws but exposed ,320 has a single nut
