I picked up this rather sorry looking Bialaddin quite cheaply on fleabay with the intention of robbing it for parts, but rather than have it "put down"so to speak, I'm tempted to have a go at getting it up and running.... The hood is bent and rather pitted - I might have a bash with the "universal screwdriver" or chuck it and use an old spare. The glass is cracked and chipped (for some reason it has a Vapalux stamp on it) so methinks destination dustbin. Control cock seized, vapouriser ok, pump washer missing, tank "looks" sound. I'm up for a challenge so it will be the next project -I'll let you know how I get on.

310 is my favourite of all the Bialaddin lanterns and I am sure you will have this one running and looking good. The globe was the wrong one for the model anyway although you may find locating the correct type will not be easy. A replacemnt hood should be no big deal as it is a pretty standard type used on a lot of Bialaddin through the 1950s. All the rest of the parts are of course pretty well univeral to all Bialaddin models and are easy to find and fettle. Be nice to see another one restored. ::Neil::
I am also very fond of the 310. My only issue with them is that one does not have a very good view of the meths cup, especially in poor light (which would be a common usage scenario) and I have on more than one occasion over-filled it resulting in burning meths running down the side of the fount.
... Hmmm, yes it does look a bit compact in there... Do you have to lift the hat/burner up to get at it? pb
No, in the top of the aluminium collar on which the globe rests there is a notch for the spout of the spirit can. But the rim of the spirit cup is about 1/4" below the rim of the collar.

That's never been a problem for me although intervals between lighting one of my 310s are lengthy. I suppose you could always slide a suitably-sized nut, some washers or collar down the vapouriser to raise the spirit cup...
