    Hi all,

I have recently bought a bioethanol fireplace with a metal casing (see pictures).

This fireplace has been put in the HardieBacker cement board which can withstand heat up to 100c, which is sufficient.

I want to add a high-end finish around the fireplace so using a company that will apply microcement to the wall. We also do a sub-base.

Before they can start the work they have asked for the area to be skimmed and feathered.

Does the skim have to be heat resistant? If yes, does anybody have any recommendations?
