With special thanks to @Anthony I post this wartime steel Coleman “Victory” 249-299 generator. Generator with magnet. The generator box marked “No. 249-299” The generator box (bottom) with other generator boxes “No. 249-2991”. The generator box (bottom) with both “Wichita” and “The Coleman Export Corporation, Chicago, Ill.” (as on the paperwork). This is another box from my collection that is marked as a Wichita 249-299 generator (not 249-2991), but without the Illinois information. Lastly I note that all of my Canadian 249 boxes are marked “249-299”. The steel 249-299 generator was found in Australia. I’d be very interested in more information about these steel generators as well as the 249-299 v 249-2991 story. Cheers Tony
