Hi guys I have a bit of a problem and I'm hoping you can help? I have a coleman powerhose lantern and on turning it on to light the noise its making seems to indicate there's a blockage in the generator. With the mantles off you can clearly see its struggling to push fuel through the heads ie fuel stopping and starting ie you can see the intermittent vapour mist. Ive emptied what was clean fuel out of the tank, to find its contaminated brown with rust particles. If you shake the tank you can clearly hear the rattling of rust particles inside the tank indicating a corrosion problem and hence its likely the rust has blocked it up. When I shook the tank out with the residual fuel on a cloth there were rust particles all over it. Any advice?
The powerhouse is a fairly modern lantern and Coleman do not make them like they used to. What fuel are you using? Try putting a little fuel in the tank and then add some ball bearings, rattle them around for a while and then pour all of the contents through a sieve and then continue that process until the fuel which comes out is clean. That may fix the problem, but it would be better to add some of that tank sealant too, I do not recall the brand, but some of the other collectore will. Also, completely strip down the lantern and clean all of the parts insides and outsides, a clean lantern/lamp will always work better, Jeff.
Or "Kreem". Similar thing, and works fine. I don't know what the POR-15 costs, but "Kreem" wasn't really cheap either...
