    Hi Winchman,

The black plastic knob pulls off (give it a wiggle if it is tight) and then you can unscrew the barrel with the knurling to replace the washer. This is as far as you can strip them down.

Edit: I am assuming you have a [url=http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/1719 as they are the most commonly found lamp in the UK and have an alloy control cock.

It may well be loose because the gland seals are worn out or missing. It's probably best to try renewing those first - they're only piddling little rubber rings and you might get away with O-rings, even. I've only ever fitted one seal, although Tilley reckon there should be two.

The one that's too tight may be because someone's tried to compensate for worn seals by over-tightening the gland nut - wouldn't be the first time that's been done to save tuppence.

I reckon most people here make their own seals by punching them out of a sheet of synthetic rubber, but Ross (Spiritburner) will be more than happy to flog you a few, or even a complete refurbishment kit. Contact him by PT (Private Topic)...

    Hi

Just see if you can measure the old seals before they come off or when they do tilley seals have concentric rings on some parts ( bottom of vap tube for one ) just put a cutter up to them & you should be near enough

    Stu  .
