    Catalytic heaters are nice.
Sometimes I use one to keep the car windows ice free when I'm not at home and there's no electrical socket available where it's parked.
It runs fine on heptane or alkylate petrol.

Ah.. Good tip there. I was thinking in that direction :) The 119 tank had all its joints at the pump, fuellid and fuelgauge soldered in a bad way. Lucky i got a extra tank that is in somewhat better condition. They had put a penny in the fuelgaugelid instead of the glas...:)

One can still make some finds on the auctionsites, but they are few. 18£ for a 1020 i figure is ok? :)

That 930 is nice. How old is it?

There's an antique store not far from my house selling one of those with the box for $400 Canadian (£195 or so). As much as I'd like to have it, I think it'll be sitting there for a while.

My guess ia that the 930 is from 1950-60 approx. Its i fine modell and the priceing in general of lanterns are high so best odds is a barnfind or fleemarket, were the price may be less.

If the wheel that is on the 930 now is original, it should be from shortly after 1957. Otherwise that variation was in production from the late 1950s to the 1980s.

With the 300cp version there are a lot of variations in the changeover period around 1957. Here you find examples with mixtures of parts from the 350cp version and the 300cp version, until Optimus ran out of all the old parts and you end up with the 'correct' 300cp version. The wheel continued for a little longer but it is unsure how long. My guess is to about 1960. After that there are no changes until sometime in the 1980s (this is my best guess) when the filler cap changed to the pointy wing type. That's as much as I know about the 300cp version. Of course the brass version came in around the late 70s.

There, a empty space in the collection is gone now when the 1020 is finished. Oh well it still needs a new tank and nrv washer.. :) 1452583350-IMG_20160112_081612-600x800.jpg 1452583401-IMG_20160112_081628-600x800.jpg

Why does it need a new tank?

Just like a cobra, watching over the auction sites ready to strike when they glimpse by... those lanterns with some kind of human pricing to them..

So, the latest bargain (below 200£) arrived. A optimus 300 in decent condition. All parts seems to work so now its dismantled for some fetting.
