Exceptionally nice one! I like these because they run quiet and reliable on petrol. With Aspen 4 you pump them once and then leave them alone for hours. It is possible to light them by using a swan neck torch style lighter which comes close enough to warm up the brass sheet at the top of the vaporizer. What is the date stamped on its bottom? BR, Martin
@ WimVe I didn't re plate it. But I don't know past owner re plate it or not. It looks like I have not been reprinted as I saw it.
@Martin K. , Yes,This lantern is very quiet. And it keep pressure well. I like this lantern. Swan neck torch is very good idea! I'll try it. The stamped date is Line#1: 06(or 08 It is difficult to read...) Line#2: 5 I don't know what it means.
@Titoo,@ROBBO55,@JEFFJOHNSON, Thank you! I got this lantern with very good condition. I had changed only NRV pip and Fuelcap seal.
@ Pod Bros, It's my first Ditmar. I like Ditmar's detail too. How to remove the top hood and burner frame,The shape of valve handle... I want to get other model of Ditmar too.
Hello Yosh, that stamping would then mean June (or August) 1935, which absolutely makes sense to me. You see that it's a pretty old lady, though in a perfect shape. Keep it well, and beware of breaking the glass: the 300HK Ditmar cylinders (e.g. marked with "No. 814") are higher than those you can buy nowadays for Petromax and the like, and almost impossible to find! I've got several Ditmars here, and none of my 300HK types has a cylinder with a match hole like yours. I would be interested to know whether there's a number marked on it. Should probably be "No. 817" if my interpretation of the catalogue is right. BR, Martin K.
Hi Martin, Thank you for your advice. I must keep the glass well. Yes, My 503's cylinder is marked only "No.817" that you told. But there are no Ditmar's logo and glass manufacturer's logo. Regars, YOSH
