Good evening members, I've been a lantern restorer for a few years now and have been very successful in my endeavours to fix and fettle tilley/vapalux and bialaddin lamps/lanterns, I have been self teaching myself to enamel hood/vents to a high standard using all original hoods/vents as always there are some age and wear issues but in general they seem to be overcome in the end. I would like to use my work to provide a service to members who would like to restore their treasured lamps /lanterns for further information please don't hesitate to ask
Welcome to the forum. Could you post some pictures of your enamel work and tell us a bit more about yourself? Where are you based?
I am based in Hertfordshire and been working on parrafinalia for many years trying to use modern technology to fix vintage issues, I've had an Instagram account for about two years and have many pictures of my work on there if you guys are interested it's @Tilleyz13 as for photos I will upload them for you to look over
@Tilleyz13 Hi and welcome to the forum. Very impressive work and I’m sure you will have some “takers” here. How long does it take you to strip and prepare a hood for re-enamelling? Regards Jeremy
You are about a 20 minute drive from me and come the end of covid restrictions I will likely be there with at least one seriousy rare hood I dare not entrust to the mail. ::Neil::
Oh yes! HERE and HERE. @Robert Radcliffe WG Ball for your enamel supplies I see. What about the retail sales bar to UK customers due to Brexit that Robert Radcliffe reported? John
What beautiful work! Could you PM me and let me know what re-enameling a hood would cost? Thanks, George
I've got some right tatty old Primus hoods that would look great in fresh japan green. Can you send me a PM with a price estimate please
