Just like the title says, what is the solution to my problem. Fuel is not coming out of the nozzle when pressurised ... there are no leaks... the bottom is just dented a little, even tho nothing too serious. However, when almost full, the fuel comes out nice, but as soon as there's less fuel in the tank air is getting out of the nozzle.

Everything's air tight, generator is cleaned, new nozzle and needle.

    Thanks.

As Graham says, it is difficult to assess without model type and preferably some pictures. However, if you get fuel flow when it is full, but not when the fuel level is lower, it may be a pick-up tube problem. Empty the tank and with a torch see if you can see the pick-up tube. It may have become detached, been shortened or even be just at the wrong angle. Pics needed mate. Steve.

Just like Steve says, it sounds like the fuel tube is either broken off half way or has a hole in it.

It would be nice to know what sort of lamp it is though. :)

If its a coleman its a problem with the pickup for the fuel as the air pickup hole is clear,,,,hopefully its not one of the plastic pickups....

Clairvoyant we ain’t so make and model please. Has to be a fuel tube leak. Some are an easy fettle and some are a bear so we really do need to know what the lamp is.

Thanks for all the replies so far... Should have mentioned make before, it's a Primus 992 we are talking about here (basically the same as the 991 lantern version). Once the fuel is past a certain level, air comes out first, followed by a ''plop'' and fuel comes out. This repeats itself untill only air comes out.

A leak in the pick-up tube sounds right to me.

Has to be. I can't remember dismantling a 992 but you should be able to unscrew the valve block from the tank and pull out the whole fuel feed. I a not sure if 992 has a foot valve or not but either way it is a simple enough fettle to either repair or replace the small tube. The lamp will work fine without a foot valve so if there is one you don't have to re fit it. ::Neil::

Not that easy actually as the valve block is soldered in place. Should be possible though and is actually a job I need to do on a 1081 so please keep me posted on progress. :)

Ah I was not sure about that. I know some Primus stuff is soldered in. Sometimes that was done before the base plate was inserted and just unsoldering will not permit removal. Not a job I have had to do on a Primus so I don't know. Be interesting to find out. ::Neil::
