As Found Goulburn N.S.W Font 6" Dia 3.5"H Any one got any ideas. Help with source of, vaporiser Glass 5"Dia 7+1/4"High Botom frame disc ? other parts to complete. Mantle holder gas screens. Etc..
Not a Gouburn Special. They have a Kayen lantern tank with the two bolts for the handle visible. This one looks more like a Gloria to me. ::Neil::
Thanks Neil Identity Gloria same as Mick Emms 1918 Gloria second lamp(American) in Lamp reference Gallery Knew I had seen picture of one somewhere and it has a resemblance to the Gloria 33 which I have also. Now for a bottom, vaporiser, down tube, mantle holders ????
Donor lamp found parts fitted all that is needed is a globe and test and run. Model & Date ?? Graham..
Model 12 OXO-GAS. Date is a problem. We know they were offered in 1915 and 1916 but Gloria paper is scarce and I can't be sure how long these were in production. Possibly up to the early 1920s but I am guessing. They started to introduce new faster lighting burners around 1918 and 1919 so it is quite possible this torch lighting lamp was upgraded before 1920 with a new model. ::Neil::
Thanks Neil must be the senior thing sneaking up, I have seen the Gloria Oxo Gas pic`s before but didn`t recognise it or register the Gloria in the name.
I have always wanted to find one of these. I have the hollow wire equivalent but haven't been able to get my hands one one like this. Very nice looking lanterns.
@Graham P Can you provide the approximate dimensions of the bail (handle) on this Gloria? Cheers Tony
Gloria Model 12 OXO-GAS & Gloria Model 33 handles are identical with the exception of the strap in the OXO version is formed to match the hood cap, whereas the 33 is flat as is its hood.
Thanks, Graham. That’s useful information. Hopefully I get to nick off with see @Lamp_Doctor ’s at the light up this weekend. Cheers Tony
Hi Graham I’ve been on the trail of this particular lantern since I found mine here in Tasmania I know of three found in Australia and a couple in US Although it’s very similar to the Chicago made Oxo gas 12 I believe it was a Gloria Aussie import and sold here as a 300CP hurricane lamp I have seen Aussie Gloria catalogue page showing the exact lantern I also have the 400 CP version which was advertised here in Australia as well I doubt whether they were made here but date to mid late 1920s ( from the catalogue circa ) Here is the Page ( thanks to Matt Purtell) And here is the add for the 400CP ( note the Double air intake tubes Here is an Aussie Gloria exhibition showing one on display I’ll post pics of my 400CP in another post
