I'm looking for ideas for the use of hand-lines or festoon for both backyard and camping lighting uses. For camping I'm thinking of using some para-cord with about 1-2 ft of chain and clasp. I think that I can toss it as a hand line then hoist a lantern 10-15ft high. Looking for ideas for the garden/backyard as well. Andy
I saw a camp photo of one camper using a ridgeline extending across his camp with 2 lanterns on the ridgeline. It appeared he could move the lanterns up and down the line and across the camp to get light where needed. It was simple and clever. I'd like to try that. Currently I use the Coleman lantern stand. It extends to 7ft. tall and does an excellent job. I find the lantern at 6ft up on the stand perfect for providing a light that can cover most of the camp.
I'd like to see what they did. I did some web search on lines, rope, block & tackle and finally came across "slack line" as the buzz word. Interesting leads to logging and how slack line techniques can be used for lifting and positioning all manner of hill and dale. AR
