Following recent comments around Hand Sanitiser being useful as a priming fuel decided to give this one a go This is definitely a green light for me works great there was a concern this would leave a residue in the primer cup but this particular sanitiser if tried is not leaving anything behind it’s particularly handy in our case as I’ve always a couple of bottles in the pickup or van after discovering by chance it’s also a great short term midge repellent Once lit it Burns steadily with a nice hot blue flame with no smoke or smell Tried firstly without the glass and hood just in case I encountered any issues Thing is We have loads leftover following Covid that no one requests anymore and often just gets thrown out Not anymore
Glad you tried it. If I spot a cheap bottle or two I will give it a go too, though the brands out here will obviously be likely to be different.
I had also tried using a few types of hand sanitisers for this task. Liquid one worked quite well, but the gel, bubbled alot while burning and left lots of nasty goo in the priming pan.
You can pick up 12 Litres of the stuff for £12 in 500ml bottles on ebay in the UK. £1 a litre is cheaper than meths here at the moment.
