Hello Just back from the car boot sale with two Tilley lamps. One has a damaged glass the other looks fine. Now can I make one of the heater thingys to get it going or do I need to buy one? Where is the best place to buy parts, I need a seal kit for each one. Thanks

Thanks its an X246B, I think the control knob has had it so I assume its Ebay etc as a new one appears to be out of my budget. The Tank is brass so I assume I should polish it? its beem painted black, how would you reccomend I strip it?
It is up to your taste if you polish the lamp or not. I have seen a lot of them polished, certainly because of the paint being in bad condition. I would recommend to strip the tank with a paint remover, so you don't unnecessarily sand off brass. Did you already check if the tank holds pressure and that the bottom is not bulged when pressurised? A common problem with X246Bs.
