anyone know why my pump is different in diameter where the seal seats compared to two others i have? it seems to be about a mil bigger area to fill snugly and make a good seal, mine will not keep any pressure and will extinguish after just seconds, have any others found this?what did you do to solve the problem? will i need to manufacture a custom seal? i noticed that all three pumps are different too all from table lamps. my second problem is the burn,i am assuming the vaporiser is dead? maybe the hole now too big? it burns a lot of fuel it seems and never burns bright :
Presuming that the lamp has been correctly preheated, a yellow flame from the burner as shown in the photograph is almost always a sign of a defective vaporiser. In time the tiny jet orifice becomes enlarged and passes excess fuel some of which burns with a yellow flame. To make certain, try partially closing the control cock, such that the enlarged jet is partly blocked by the cleaning needle. If the lamp then burns correctly, a new vapouriser is almost certainly need. A less likely cause of yellow flame is that the burner is partly blocked by dirt or dead insects and the airflow thus obstructed.
thanks mate that confirms my thoughts,i have another i could try.the burner is ok as its brand new never been used before and i have several of them in use. thanks for the help.
I would use another pump and there are many variations in the design of Tilley pumps and the link below shows relevant information, just scroll through the page a bit. http://www.classicpressurelamps.com/forum/showgallery.php?fid/472/
