Has anyone ever seen or used a Hipolito H202 (Force 10) lantern? There's one for sale near me for what I consider to be a premium price. I might consider it if I knew the seller would deal a bit. Here are pics from the actual ad. I don't know if that's the lantern actually for sale, or if the seller took it from another ad. Any comments or concerns about these?
Nice looking lantern, looks hardly used. Hipolitos are well made. I found four H202s searching the sold prices of eBay.com so you should be able to get an idea if the price is fair.
The picture is of a Hipolito H202. All of the Force 10 lamps I've seen lack a collar tag and are only identifiable by a label on the fount. Very nice solid lamps, the only issue is the plating flaking around the base, but it's always minor. The example pictured is very nice example and would fetch a good price over here, but they do not fetch nearly as much in Canada and the US, so restrict your price research to past sales in North America.
I should have added that I have a three of these so I'm speaking from personal experience. Unless you are specifically after a Force 10 the branding isn't particularly relevant in the grand scheme of things, they are the same lamp, from the same factory.
Force 10 is the brand name for Force 10 Marine Ltd. 23080 Hamilton Road Richmond British Columbia Canada. They sold a range of Hipolito lanterns. This one H202 is Force 10 model FTP250KS or P250K ::Neil::
I retract my previous statement, I have just seen a Force 10 with a collar tag for the first time and I have looked at a number for sale.
