Just took possession of this lamp that I used to learn to read and write in a little fishing village in Newfoundland, Canada. The only markings say Tilley England. Would like to identify the lamp so I can seek help in refurbishing it.

Welcome aboard! The tank and the pump and the control cock and the vapouriser where originally part of a 1950's Tilley R-1 radiator, the handle and the reflector and the heater burner and the wire guard have been removed and a Tilley lamp burner and gallery and a 182 globe have been fitted. Tilley ..as well as other manufacturers use a 'modular' design, that is to say, when taken apart, many of the individual components can simply be interchanged with other Tilley lamp and heater models. This does mean you often see a different tank, top, reflector or glass than was originally intended. Therefore, if you were set on restoring this back to original you effectively have the choice of a heater or table lamp. Having said all of this the sentiment for me would dictate that it is kept as it is and just given a good service.
Rex, Where in Newfoundland did you find it? It seems like there are quite a few Tilleys to be found back home in Newfoundland. I've found three or four on my trips back home in Newfoundland. Shane
