Is this an EX100

Original? Well it's period correct for sure. What dates it is the way the handle is fixed. Up to early 1940 the handles were screwed into sockets in the fount. The fixing was changed in mid 1940 to studs in the fount and those union nuts. ::Neil::

@Buggerlugs The handle on your lantern is fastened onto studs.

The fact that this lantern is actually a PL53 is neither here nor there, what matters is that it shows a handle screwed into sockets.

As far as I know all EX100 (and EX4) had studs on the tank for the fixed handle. The EX designation was for "export". The EX4 and EX100 were less expensive than the contemporaneous PL53. The PL53 went from having the (hinged) handle that screwed into the tank, to having the tank with lugs for the handle to screw onto.

Earlier in this thread I said:

So, @Buggerlugs, your original lower insect screen in this thread is correct.

I also said:

I’m probably wrong here as well. I’m not sure when the flattish butterfly clip lower insect screen was introduced, but it appears to be well after the “dish with stem and clip” screen.
