This case came with a 220D dated A 47. Inside the case sports a reflector and a compartment in the top. The paperwork in the compartment is for a 220C which was probably replaced by the 220D at some point. The case only fits 220 style lanterns (possibly other manufactures besides Coleman)... It seems to be setup for boat use and the bracket is removable. The previous owner acquired it as part of a fishing lure deal (which he collects) in Indiana, so it has returned to Ohio from where it was inscribed.... I'm looking for any information as to the maker of this case and possibly its original owner.. The previous owner is also interested in this information. This inscription dates the case to at least 1945 though it may be older... These were also in the case. The box has a copyright date of 1939; suggesting that it predates the case..
A very sophisticated lantern case. From the intricate hardware and "leatherette" covering, it indicates professional manufacture, a trunk and case company, perhaps. The fact that I have never seen another like it perhps indicates fabrication by a craftsman. The one point support of the case bottom (the "C" clamp) might be for mounting on a land based cabin shelf, rather than a boating use. Paul
