Hello, I have been a collector of Coleman lanterns for a while now. Yesterday at an antique market I bought a Hawthorne gas lantern, made for the now defunct Montgomery Ward department store chain. I suspect it was made by AGM but not entirely sure. Model number is 60-9520. I have no idea of the age. Does anyone know of any made for Montgomery Ward? Thank you!
I believe a Japanese company made some of these for Wards. The give away is the pump; very strange pump. I would think both AGM and Coleman probably made lanterns for Wards. During the 1930’s and 40’s, I believe Prentiss-Wabers may have made lanterns for them too.
I think this is an AGM Kamplite RL 32. It's not easy to tie down a lot of Montgomery Ward lamps because often the catalogue number is different to the number on the lamp and the catalogue model reference is an inventory stock number so sometimes can refer to as many as three different manufacturers product. I don't have this listed with the M Ward lamps, just with the Hawthorne list so I don't have a date. If it is a re-badged Kamplite then it will be about mid 1950s. ::Neil::
SO I dismantled this lantern yesterday and promptly broke the generator cleaning rod where it connects to the AGM version of the tip cleaner eccentric block. The generator is very similar to the Coleman 220 generator except that the connection to the block is different. It is likely I can adapt a Coleman generator to work, but I am wondering if anyone has a source for AGM generators, either OEM NOS, replacement, or rebuilt? I have already tried Old Coleman Parts here in the USA but they don't have anything.
