Hi all, I’m looking for info regarding the Finnish on a Tilley lamp I’m considering purchasing. It has a chrome like Finnish. So did Tilley manufacture a lamp with a chrome font or is it definitely speculum. I’d also like to know if it is speculum well is that desirable and does it impact on the value of the lamp. The lamp appears to be in a good working condition with some light rust spots on the font. Can anyone speculate on the value of such a lamp. Sorry I’ve got no pictures but it’s fairly tidy. Thanks all !

As far as I know, Tilley always used speculum plating to achieve the shiny metal finish. As a rule speculum plated Tilley lamps are more sought after than the painted versions but I wouldn't say there's a huge difference.

Also it's this site's policy not to give valuations... and in any event it would be pointless as it's impossible to predict what a specific lamp will fetch when sold on one of the auction websites.

Some photos of your lamp would be great!
