Hi Everyone, I bought an optimus 200P on Ebay. I have some optimus 200cp. I tried to find information to know what is difference between 200p and without P. - optimus 200p with Pressure gauges, Nikel fount - Optimus 200p without pressure gauges, Civil defense version, polish brass version - Optimus 1200 without pressure gauges, nikel fount Someone know what is "P" on Fount tank? what does it mean? what is difference between "P" and without "P" version Thanks,
No one knows what the P actually means. There have been many guesses over the years. As to differences between the 200 and the 200P, the only one I know of is the size of the vapouriser where it attaches to the lower part. On the 200 the vapouriser narrows in but the 200P is the same diameter all the way down. The 200P was also when the red enamel top cap was introduced, though you do find some with the older nickel pated cap. Probably using up old stock.
There hadn't been any conclusive information so far. There are also others that mentioned on those lanterns having the float-type level gauge feature like what you're having on one of them shown in the pictures above.
Thanks Nils, The 200P version have some version. I have two lanterns 200P as pictures. One lantern has Pressure gauges, another one has no Pressure gauges (Civil defense version). Fue cap are difference. I want to know "P" and w/o "p" indicator.
As mentioned, there is no evidence of what the P stands for. The only common change on all the lanterns marked P, is the vapouriser attachment. Things like filler cap, manometer attachment point and level gauge can all vary even though they are still P models. @MYN The level gauge was introduced in either 1939 or 1940 so was fitted to models before the introduction of the P.
Thanks Nils. There had been many different discussions in the past on this. So, some documentation have yet to be discovered. I was initially even guessing if the 'P' could mean the porcelained hood cap but couldn't find enough info to support that.
