I accumulate a few stove and lamp, lantern parts over the years and occasionally get to use them on new acquisitions. I picked up six lanterns over the weekend, two were parts lanterns that were thrown in and another was missing a couple small screws and a messed up valve stem, a Coleman 228B. One banged up Coleman 242C had a damaged cage/reflector bottom so thought I could try straightening it, then recalled I had another that might work, turns out it was identical, so just had to swap out the burner cap from the damaged one to the replacement. Still need a proper screw for the pump cap I see it is called and need to add a genny, the nut is there for the genny, so that is good. The pricker assembly doesn't work properly, up is down, sideways is down. down is up. No luck pulling it, so will have to leave it in, even heat and tugging with Vise Grips did no good. Plus, had a ratty vent that is proper style and I have extra globes from adding mica chimneys back to some lanterns. A 200A needed a bail which I had to order and am in the process of painting the cage. Things to keep me out of the street. Duane
I used to do the same with trucks lol, but it is good to see parts that would normally go to scrap find a use.
I'm with you 100% mate. Since lockdown I've been working my way through all my spare parts and donor lamps to see what I can pull together. It's actually quite rewarding!
I bought a bunch of auction lots last year, a bunch of lamps and parts. Kept me busy for two months. Duane
