This Petromax 829 is regd. in Germany - not made in Germany, but in China. The German Petromax carry the stamp Made in Germany. Further differences, beside the quality, is the star in the logo carrying the 2 seahorses. The china-made carry 11 star-tips and the german-made carry 10 startips. The light-output is very very nice white and sharp, when the complete lamp is taken apart and put correct together again, so most of the factorys mistakes dont lower the output. Because of the bad plating quality, this lamp has one very annoying fault, and that is that the plating inside the tank falls of and clogs up the fuel-way to the burner and there is almost nothing to do about it, well that is my experience. At first glance a very handsome lamp Discussion about the german and china Petromax is to be found here: http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/9861 Claus C
Yep Wim, the ingraving is done very crude. It seems like they made a bad template and used it too many times Yep PB, the fount, cage and tophat is all brass, so stress-cracks has already appeared, though they can appear by other causes than just bad quality Claus C
