    Finally got a new top piece fixed for this, as it was missing. Fast becoming one of my favorites. Does it look correct for parts?

    Depends on how "correct" you would like it to be. The alcohol cup on the vapouriser isn't original equipment. However, some folks consider them more practical than the clip-on torch hence their popularity. It's your lantern and if it suits you, then it's O.K., after all, Coleman lanterns never came with a sparker but plenty have been fitted.
    The cowl looks good, I don't have one with enough enamel left on to determine if it changes colour when it gets hot. Smart !

    Love them pork pies. Looking good, if it pleases you then it's alright.

    Well done.

    Cheers

    Thanks folks. I knew the preheat cup was not original. I was wondering if the control and pump looked from the period?
    This is the first Porkpie I have seen in the U.S. I did some trading for it, but it was missing the whole vent top. It must have been used a lot to burn the supports thru.

    The pump I would say is a later addition. I think an early porkpie like this should have a flatter type of pump, I'll find a picture later of what I mean. @Mackburner would be better suited to say whether or not this is original though.

    @dwillie

    Here is my example of the earliest pork pie. Yours is slightly later because it has a long bail (handle) rather than the short bail as on mine; and before the cage went to having "ears" for the bail attachment.

    Tilley X246 (original 'pork pie', short handle)

    You can see the original pump and control cock on mine.

    Cheers

    Yeah that's the type of pump I was thinking of @Tony Press
