As I finally could remove the check valve from a spare 1081 tank, I want to service th rest of the lamps and I have a couple of questions: 1. About the pre heater. I want to take apart it to clean it and service it. Any advice or just have to follow my instinct? 2. I guess that the pricker control knob operates also a valve on the tank on the style of Px lanters. Or is is just a pricker lever? If there is a valve: how to dismantle it? Has anyone here got a parts list or some guide to do the job? Thank you in advance. Juan
Hi Juan I've added a couple of patents that might help. I will only have limited access to a computer over the next week, so my replies might be a bit delayed.
Thank you both. Enough detailed draws. I don't need to remove anything on the shut off valve and the pre heater seems to be simple.
Hello all This is my first post, I see a few friends here and quite a few I don't know. Like Juan I am dabbling with a Primus-this one a 981. I have a fount I would like to get replated but am hesitant as it does not look like the valve body and preheater remove, at least not easily. There would be interference from the stud in the center of the fount. Also need some dimensions of the lead packings and any parts sources known. I am aware of Fogas and Base Camp UK. Any help would be appreciated. VBW Dan MacPherson California, USA
Welcome Dan. You are right that the valve body does not come out. They were soldered in place after fitting in the factory. The quick starter should come out. It is on a taper thread and can be very tight. Pictures of what you mean would be good in case there are any misunderstandings. The two places you mention are pretty much the main suppliers of parts for Primus. There might be others but I can't think of them off hand. The only other source of parts are other collectors.
Thank You Nils. I need to take a few pitures. Juan any chance you'd share those instructions? Thank You all, Dan
