Greetings all-- I picked up this Sunshine Safety torch light lamp at the Coleman collectors convention last month. The price was low because several pieces were absent. My careful examination of the fount revealed no dreaded stress cracks. Fortunately, my stash of bits and pieces provided the needed parts. Two hours of cleaning and polishing made the lamp ready for reassembly. On first try, the lamp failed to light although the fount held pressure sufficient to push fuel to the mixing chamber. The hex nut-like device ,neath the air intake is actually a gas tip with a tiny orifice. Once I decarbonized the gas tip, the lamp readily lit. Many of these turban shaped fount lamps were converted to Instant Light by upfitting the Coleman AQ burner system and a later R55 generator. By comparison, the torch light lamp is more difficult to pressurize and light, but much more satisfying to make glow after 97 years.
