Hello fellow collectors.I own four Super Aladdin lamps , and each one has a different wick adjustment wheel. Can anyone accurately date these four differently labeled Super Aladdin burners ? In what chronological order were they manufactured ?
I have now checked the Aladdin book and the brass burner is from 1932 and the production run for the burner to the right of the brass burner is from 1933 to 1953 and the production run for the next burner is from 1938 to 1953. The model B burner is from 1931.
Thanks a lot,Jeff, that was very helpful Is the brass burner from 1931 perhaps the oldest Super Aladdin burner ever ? And the Model B burner was only manufactured for one year ? 1932 And why were the two other burners manufactured almost simultaneously for so long ? And why was the perfectly functioning Super Aladdin burner replaced by the inferior Model 21 burner and the Model 23 burner, which usually emits light from only one side ? I'm speechless.
The model B burner which you have was actually made in the USA., and was imported to the UK., in about 1931, but the knob has the British patent number on it. That is also the case for the brass burner, but it was imported to the UK., in about 1932; in the USA., the Super Aladdin burner / Model 14 burner was known as the model A burner. Your next two burners were actually made in the UK., and they did have a good production run, however, that is all that I know about them. I concur that the Super Aladdin burner is the best side draught burner which Aladdin made and I suppose that the later and poorer quality burners were an attempt to save on production costs. The Aladdin book is well worth having and the link below shows information. Google Search
@JEFF JOHNSON The manufacturing period for the last two burners mentioned does not seem logical for me. Logically,it would make sense to me that the third burner was manufactured from 1933 to 1938 and the last one from 1938 to 1953.
Yes , that's what I thought. Serious errors , untruths and inaccuracies are often cemented in literature. That could be case here too. Perhaps old annual Aladdin catalogs would be helpful.
