I have recently obtained an X246a with a dent in the side of the tank.
could somone out there outline any tried and tested methods please?
I'm looking at reshaping a paint roller handle or tent peg/skewer and trying to push it out from the inside?
I think ball bearings and strong magnets have also been mooted somewhere the site as well.
It may be a case of leaving it alone and adding "character" but I'd certainly like to expand my fettling skills if possible.

I think you will have difficulty with such a thin piece of metal, as you need quite a bit of force to push out the dent.

If you're going to paint the tank you could always just fill the dent in.

Otherwise I have had some success by soldering a metal tab onto the dent and then pulling the dent out from the outside.

Check on the Coleman collector's forum. Use the search feature and look for dents. There have been several discussions there about dent removal using various tools including, but not limited to: heat, ice, compressed air and combinations of the above.

Pictures would help. Some dents will readily come out, creases less so , some can't be fixed at all.
