    Hello at all,
maybe somebody can give me some help to find the production date of my Tilley FL6?
    The housing is galvanized.
The fuel tank (included the bottom) is not magnetic, so i think it's made out of brass.
At the bottom of the fuel tank there is embossed "Made in England" and "2" (no more other numbers).
The suspension at the underside says "Tilley Hendon" and "1295".
See the attached pictures for details.
I bought this lamp from a dealer, who almost always is selling stuff from switzerland.
So i think this lamp was also been used in switzerland. Maybe civil defence?
I would be very pleased if there is somebody that can help me to identify the date.
    Kind regards from Germany,
    Steven

    Welcome aboard!

It has the more modern style of tank and if there is no date code stamped on the bottom of the tank, then it was made before the Autumn of 1956 and my guess is that it was made in 1956.

Galvanised case and light grey painted tank is probably a Swiss Army lamp. We saw a few of these in Swiss Army boxes at one of the Petromax meetings. The guy selling them told me they were a 1966 Army contract lamp set. ::Neil::

    Hello Jeff,
thanks for the Welcome and also for the Information!
So if i understood that right, modern style tanks were bulit first in 1956 and date codes were first stamped with beginning of Autumn 1956.
    Is that right?
I get curious now. Was there stamping of date codes also in years before 1956 or not? Could you give me some background information of the beginning stamping date codes at Autumn 1956?
Thank you and regards - Steven

Precise information about Tilley's products is not always available, but as far as I know Tilley started dating their tanks 1956 and the large tank which was used on the FL-6 and the R-55 etc., before that was of a different style.
