I thought I would give the preheater tube a clean-up. I have a "display" one in excellent condition (and a home-made one from a spray-can that's used in the shed), but the general "user" one is quite thin and had surface rust from the heat/cool cycles etc. Looks quite good after a dunk in the tank: Uh oh: Oh boy! : In a galaxy far, far away....... A coat of "800" Degrees-C Grey We'll see how long the 800C paint really lasts, its been baked as far a 250C. It's bound to give a little protection for a time. Despite having the appearance of a teabag, its still structurally sound. It will do a while yet until its retired to the display shelf That concludes the astronomy lesson.... Alec.
