Hi All, I have a friend that owns a Tilley SL1 Its all there apart from the air buttons that screw on to the air intakes on each side? Does anyone know what part number he needs to look for? Or does anyone have one spare? Thanks Adam

Ok, let's make it simple: if it looks as a FL6 with two handles and a adjustable focus: PLEASE send it to me ! There must be a lot around in the UK but overhere on the main land it would make a nice display next to some petromaxes.
A lot in the UK? If only that were true. They are a rare thing and there are very few here. I think I know of about four with collectors and one with a lady who will not part with it. At least two of those were mailed here from Australia as well so found in the UK is about three or four at most. As for an adjustable focus version; I have yet to see one of those. The air buttons you just don't see as spares. I have two sets here on SL1 and FL5 but the only way you will get a new pair is if someone makes them for you. I know this has been done before but I am not sure the perpetrator of that particular fetle is prepared to make more as they were B-----D complicated and time consuming to make. ::Neil::
Hi All! Im the rogue who owns the SL1 in question, I registered here last year but got side tracked by my stationary engines, paraffin heaters, blowlamps, vintage petrol cans..... Anyway, I have decided to resurrect the old SL1, as a friend of mine has a fulley functioning FL6 and we would like to run them up side by side for comparison! I had a feeling that parts for the Sl1 would be thin on the ground, but had no idea they would be so rare. My Grandad owned mine, which was passed to my Father and now me. Its never worked in my memory, but Im hoping BaseCamp or someone similar will be able to supply washers, mantles etc. With regards to the air button, Im luck enough to have one of them, so am off to a local engineering company today to see if they can make me another one. Hopefully below are a couple of photo's of the SL1. Its spent a good proportion of its life in lofts and garages so its a bit knocked around. Im in half a mind to straighten out the dents and repaint it, but feel the battle scars are part of its history. Any feelings from yourselves? Anyway, heres how it looks at the moment, hopefully there'll be some progress soon! Cheers Rich
Really nice lamp you have there Rich i think i would clean it up and give it a coat of paint as its showing a fair bit of rust now clean the tank inside too with some parrafin and a handfull of small bolts\nuts to scour it out. Shame the air cap is missing but it will work without it you never know someone on here may just have a spare. Your one has the earlier style tank only ever seen one before like this one.
