I have just restored this table lamp from a very sad state . I bought it with the usual "onion" clear shade . However I like the look of it with the frosted shade I bought online . I have seen pictures of the parchment shade that they were supplied with . Does anyone know how these were fitted ? What sort of frame did they have ? Also , was the small onion shade still fitted into the gallery under the shade. I am considering trying to make one up from a modern shade . I have seen a fluted plasic elasticated shade advertised online but it seems to have no fittings . Does anyone know anything about this item and how it was fixed to the lamp . I had to re-spray the tank as it was in a bad way with lots of paint loss . I found that a Ford Beige colour matched very well indeed to the R1 tank that on the Tilley R1 that I have . Hello Noel, it's restored well. The 182 globe would have been used with the parchment shade, otherwise the heat would have been to much for the shade. If I recall correctly, the parchment shade had a wire ring near the top of the shade which sat on the gallery, Jeff.
Ah that is the plastic pleated shade used on models TL120 and 120A and not what was used on this model TL136. They were a parchment type although the fitter rings are the same sizes. ::Neil::
