Hi Guys and Girls, I'd be grateful for any info. you can provide on this lamp's model number. Sorry about the poor image quality. I had to picture it with my basic mobile phone, because, even on it's most low-res setting, my digi-cameras file was still too big to upload! The base is brass but painted ivory/cream. The top is (will be!) shiney brass, when I have cleaned it up. I'm a "newbie" on this forum and have a couple of other lamps/radiators, for which, I'd be grateful for any input, in due course! I look forward to receiving any feedback forthcoming from you experts out there!
Go to the image optimiser on this site and practice fiddling around with your larger file size images...
Welcome aboard! That is a 1950's to 1960's Tilley ML., tank it was used in a hanger or a wall bracket and it should restore well enough. The link below shows one of my KL-80 lamps with that period of tank in the hanger, Jeff. http://0flo.com/index.php?threads/3377
Thanks both, for your replies. Tony: I now know how to "fiddle" my uploads - should have looked more at this site's facilities, before diving in at the deep end! Jeff: Yes, I had seen your lamp before, whilst doing some initial research. Unfortunately, I do not have all the hanging gubbins and, judging by the wear on the base of the fount, it has never been hung! Anyway, here's a much better picture: Jim
Your lamp appears to have been stored in a damp shed for many years, but it should restore okay. Hangers etc., do turn up.
Have a look at reference gallery - Tilley indoor lamps ML & FS you will find other options, they were also used as a replacement for wick lamps in wall bracket floor standard and hanging fittings
Looking at it I suspect the paint is pretty flaky and may be beyond saving. If so then there is a pretty good match for the colour available. Other than that authentic looking globes and shades can still be bought new and any other spares are easy to get hold of so the lamp should restore beautifully...
Thank you, Gentlemen all, I appreciate all your comments and totally agree that it will restore well, once I can get hold of the parts needed - which will need a bit of saving up for! Meanwhile, I have several other Tilley products (X264, AL 620, 2 x R1's) to restore. I will keep you updated of progress.....
