friends I bought this tilley lamp recently and the vaporizer was clogged very seriously. You can remove the garbage with a 0.30 mm primus wire but the hole is enlarged. when I press it, a strong yellow flame comes out of the white shirt and the needle of said lamp is not enough to regulate because it has little wire. is there any solution????? In Uruguay it cost me a little more money to buy this lamp
I have found that lamp spares turn up in junk/antique shops and at auctions and at outdoor markets and car boot sales, those places are worth checking out.
0.3mm is definitely too big. The tip of a Tilley cleaning wire is only 0.2mm As quoted in the post above "it may not work but at least you'll have given it a shot." if this is the case, the lamp will need a new vapouriser (#606). If unavailable in Uruguay, Tilley lamp spares usually have spares but I see they are temporarily out of stock, however, they are available here Vaporiser - 5inch. As in most cases, it pays to shop around but be carefull if looking on eBay, most (but not all) vapourisers that are offered are used and may well be no better than the one you have.
Its unfortunate that the jet's orifice had been enlarged. If the chance of getting a new vaporizer is too slim or zero in Uruguay, you'll need to try whatever that was mentioned by Henry-- drop-peen the tip end to hopefully restore the orifice's diametre back to ~0.2mm. Note:- It is a Tilley vaporizer with a non-removable jet. It has a thin sheet metal tip/jet that was pressed-fit/formed intergral to the vaporizer. Unless you have the most delicate touch, it will not be easy to peen the jet the usual way, with a pin punch like most jets from other lantern brands without overdoing or depressing the tip end too much...ruining it further.
